The Museum
The Adamello White War Museum located at Temù
was born from the necessity to remember the human and
war events of the First World War. Opened to the public
August 26th 1984, it engaged, and still does, the "Friends
of the Adamello White War Museum Association" in the
recovery and conservation work of the materials, documents
and manufactures, began in 1974.
Until 1979, the creator and coordinator of the volunteer
activities was mourning Sperandio Zani (Spera) that
lived intensively the White War, having participated
in almost every combat in Adamello. With images and
many war and daily antiquities, the museum wants to
show visitors all aspects of life in that war, fought
at an altitude of over 3000 meters.
The museum wants to remind the wounds caused by the
war in these valleys that, all originated from the massif
of the Adamello - Presanella, saw its inhabitants face
life in conditions to the limit of survival.
An austrian howitzer of 104 cm dated 1914 welcomes the
visitor at the museum entrance. In the rooms and corridors
of the museum, the material recovered by volunteers
on the Adamello glaciers is shown. These materials,
restored and classified, are accompanied by panels with
dramatic photographies of that time and flags
. Notice the immense collection of artillery bullets,
the reconstruction of a recovery-shack complete of all
the objects of country life and trasportation sledges,
found in a perfect state of conservation.
There's also place for trench shields, wire netting,
alpine equipment, weapons and personal objects that
made up the alpine equipment. A rich library is available,
with books and documents about the great war in Adamello
as well as other areas of the front.
